The 8th Doctor - Thais by Timedancer The 8th Doctor - Thais by Timedancer
Painted in 1999, this portrait was inspired by the romantic side of the Eighth Doctor.

I imagined he could well be an accomplished violinist, hense the title of the painting. He is playing the beautiful Meditation from the opera Thais, by Massenet.

My painting was completed before Kate Orman wrote her wonderful EDA "The Year of Intelligent Tigers". We had a giggle at all the queries about which came first, my painting, or her story...

The original painting is quite small ; A5 Acrylic on paper.

2013 UPDATE: I have prints of this piece available here in my ETSY shop: [link]?

That is TOTALLY how I imagined Eight spending his free time. He looks like he constantly lives in the victorian times! :iconiloveitplz: That's probably why he's my favorite Doctor!

Wow! Well done you. I hope to be able to play it soon. Just a couple more grades to go on the violin. I can play the first bit... :-)
